The Career Photographer program

Career Photographer

The "Career Photographer" program is for low volume portrait and event photographers (not sports, nature, travel, medical, or forensics photography), for family, high school senior, newborn, children, headshots, business and personal events, Weddings, etc. The Career Photographer Program is almost completely about the business side: Although we do include a basics class to make sure you know your stuff, ths program is about business planning, marketing, client relationship management, how to communicate with clients -in person, on the phone, and text-based (text, email, website, etc.) -everything associated with thriving in business for an entire career!

Landers Photography School is the only low-volume "business' specific program and we accept only those who truly want to have a successful business. We seek individuals who demonstrate competence, character, and passion. Those who aspire to make it happen against all odds and want to help others by actions that will uplift the entire photography community. This is not a quick program, there is simply too much to learn in this business, it takes a full year to complete this program.

Ideal Applicant:

Motivated, happy, conscientious, trustworthy, empathetic, goal-oriented, determined, good listener, wants to please a client, understands that there is always more to learn.

About the Program:

This program is designed for photographers who want to specialize in portrait and event photography and are already able to create saleable images (If you are starting from scratch, then we have a different path for you, but still sign up for the consultation. For example: low-volume/high profit: family, high school senior, newborn, children, headshots, business and personal events, weddings, etc. (This program is not designed for sports, nature, travel, landscape, stock, medical, or forensics photography). We will cover the basics of photography, but this program is the business side: Business planning, marketing, client relationship management, how to communicate with clients in person, on the phone, and text-based (text, email, website, etc.) - everything associated with staying in business for a long time!

Time commitment:

Two days a week for up up two-hours each, plus a bi-monthly 30-minute private session (students have complete control over this schedule.) It starts once classes start.

What if I cannot make it one day (or more)?

Easy make-ups! With both livestream and recorded options(at no additional cost)you won’t miss a thing!

How Much?

Since ‘price out of context’ doesn't show value, it will do no good for you to have the cost until I provide you with a description and comparison
- It would be like going to a grocery store and asking “how much is a bag of groceries?' -you have to know what’s in the bag first!

We found a way to optimize the program that lowers the cost to be much more affordable than any other college-style program available, plus we add in ‘private coaching’ at no extra cost - no other program does that!
My kids were recently at UTSA and it is over $40k for their program (not including books, etc). The cost of the four-year photography certificate program at the recently closed art school on Interstate Highway-10 was over $90,000, plus student fees… You will be surprised to learn that our program is nearly 90% less than theirs at $12,000, (Tuition can be broken up: monthly: $460 x24, with a down payment of $2000.) I think you will like this: this program takes only 1 year to complete, and you will be much better prepared since this is a dedicated program taught by instructors with real-life experience: which means 100% relevant and practical information. Part of the requirements of our program is that our students must begin their business while still enrolled in classes with us, so we can help them through the toughest year in business: the first one! That way they are not just prepared, but already running a photography business when they graduate.

When I completed a 4-year photography program, that at the time was considered to be the third best on the nation, a total of 33 of us graduated from that four-year program, after just 2 years, 30 moved on to other professions, after 5 years, I was the only one left. I wasn’t the best in the group, in fact some were so good, that my false sense of "comparison" caused me to consider quitting. The point of this is to say that with even the best programs out there, they simply do not prepare you for the reality of being in business for yourself. That is the basis for this unique program here at Landers Photography School.
